B.A. in Psychology

UMBC's Psychology program provides an exceptional opportunity for students to learn how basic laboratory research can be translated into treatments, interventions, and policies that improve the quality of life. Psychology is also often a first step toward careers in advertising, business, civil service, personnel/human relations, public relations or any other field that includes extensive work with people.

B.A. in Political Science

UMBC’s Bachelor of Arts in Political Science prepares students to become a part of the "business" of the Washington metropolitan area. Students learn about the central problems of politics such as the distribution of power, sources of authority, and the aggregation of preferences in groups. Students also learn technical research skills, how to write effectively, and to pursue innovative career pathways necessary in dynamic social and economic conditions.

UMBC's Bachelor of Arts in History program at The Universities at Shady Grove offers students an opportunity to develop analytical and communication skills and serves to broaden perspectives on the past. With an emphasis on public history, policy history and international historical perspectives, the program is designed to encourage the development of good writing and research skills in conjunction with innovative and critical thinking.

M.Ed. in Special Education, Specialty: Autism

Overview

The M.Ed. in Special Education, Specialty: Autism has a 30-credit, 10-course curriculum designed for professionals interested in increasing their skills and expanding their knowledge to better serve the increasing number of students with ASD and those students with related developmental disabilities. The M.Ed.’s cohort structure is designed to help build a professional learning community and can be completed in three years of continuous part-time enrollment.

B.S. in Public Health Science

The University of Maryland College Park offers the Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health Science at the Universities at Shady Grove for third- and fourth-year undergraduate students. It combines a robust curriculum in the natural sciences with training in the basic fields of public health, including coursework in areas such as kinesiology, biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental health, and behavioral and community health.

Since fall 2001 the University of Maryland, College Park's world class Robert H. Smith School of Business has enrolled students at The Universities at Shady Grove (USG). Today, over 200 full-time undergraduate students are enrolled in one of three business majors offered in the Robert H. Smith School of Business program at USG. Each fall semester, admitted students enroll as part of a cohort group to major in Accounting, Marketing, and Management. Students complete their degree over four consecutive semesters as fulltime students and graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree.
