UMBC's Psychology program provides an exceptional opportunity for students to learn how basic laboratory research can be translated into treatments, interventions, and policies that improve the quality of life. Psychology is also often a first step toward careers in advertising, business, civil service, personnel/human relations, public relations or any other field that includes extensive work with people. While many of our graduates find employment in industry, non-profit, and government work, many of our students also continue their education through graduate school programs in areas such as psychology and social work, as well as law school and medical school.

What makes UMBC-Shady Grove stand out from the crowd is the staff that are dedicated and committed to helping students succeed in their chosen career path. So far every professor I’ve encountered has been influential in shaping my professional pathway.
