The B.S. in Public Health Science combines a robust curriculum in the natural sciences with training in the basic fields of public health, including coursework in areas such as kinesiology, biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental health, and behavioral and community health. The program encourages individual exploration in public health through electives, laboratory experiences, optional internships, and a culminating interdisciplinary capstone course. In addition to earning the B.S. from the University of Maryland, graduates acquire an excellent foundation for careers in allied health, health policy, wellness and fitness, human services, research, health education, and more! Students entering the program at Shady Grove will have completed their freshman and sophomore years at a community college or accredited 4-year institution. The program is designed to be completed in two years of continuous full-time enrollment. Part-time study is welcomed.
