The UMES Campus Kitchens Project at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) was established in 2007. Over 300 meals per month are prepared for families in need, who are a part of The Dwelling Place.
The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) and Montgomery College (MC) have been awarded a $85,500 scholarship fund from the Harvey-Danner Family to support students in the Achieving Collegiate Excellence and Success (ACES) program.
On October 25, 2016, the inaugural So You Think You Can Cook (Healthy!) contest took place. The USG community was invited to sample and score eleven different dishes, cooked by contestants who are also students or staff at USG.

More than 300 scholarship recipients and donors were honored during the Universities at Shady Grove’s (USG) annual Scholarship and Donor Recognition Luncheon on November 18, 2016. Organizations and individuals donated more than $903,000 to 59 scholarship funds.
