The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) Committee for Interprofessional and Interdisciplinary Education Strategies (CIPES) hosted Student Research Day on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. The USG and local community interacted with students from UMBC Psychology, UMCP Public Health Science, UMCP Criminology & Criminal Justice, UMCP Biological Sciences, UMB School of Nursing, and UMB School of Pharmacy as they presented research from school-related and internship/fellowship projects. After the poster presentations, students and guests met with industry experts during the Drug Discovery to Patient Care round-table discussions to learn why interdisciplinary/team-based skills are critical to success in the working world.
The panelists of the Drug Discovery to Patient Care round-table discussions included Karen McCord, CEO, Breezio, Lauren Cosgrove, MD and Medical Director, Mercy Health Clinic, and Jarrod Borkat, Head, External Collaborations, Biotech Hubs & Government Contracting, MedImmune. The panel was moderated by Dr. Heather Congdon, Assistant Dean of Shady Grove, UMB Pharmacy.
