The Bachelor of Science in Information Science (InfoSci) program at the University of Maryland College of Information Studies (UMD iSchool) offered at the Universities at Shady Grove campus is a STEM designated degree program which prepares students to solve organizational and societal problems using information and technology in innovative and creative ways.
Drawing from computing, education, management, social science, and the humanities, the program teaches students to design solutions, create systems, and lead teams that bring together information, technology, and people to meet critical individual, organizational, and societal needs. InfoSci curriculum uniquely combines technical skills (i.e. database design, information architecture, web and mobile development) and data analytics with the social sciences, leadership, and design. Through coursework, internships, career development events, and professional support, students build careers that place them in leadership roles in:
