InfoSci Student Handbook
The InfoSci Student Handbook contains important information relevant to the InfoSci Program at the Universities at Shady Grove as well as the University of Maryland. The Handbook serves as a point of reference for general guidelines, policies and procedures for all InfoSci Students.
How to Register for Classes
Students register for courses each semester using Testudo, UMD's online information system. For more help with how to register, students should consult the How to Register Guide.
Paying your UMD Bill
Students should consult the Student Financial Consulting Services and Cashiering page on the UMD website to review their accounts, as well as various methods of payment, including:
- Online payment (e-check or credit card)
- Terp Payment Plan
- By mail or in-person
- Private Scholarships/Loans
- College Saving Plans
Student Rights and Policies
The Student Rights and Policies guide was developed to provide students with resources and information relevant to their participation in a UMD course. It lists policies, resources and codes that all students are expected to adhere to.
Academic Integrity
The University of Maryland expects all students to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and adhere to the Code of Academic Integrity. The University has a nationally recognized Honor Code, administered by the Student Honor Council. The Student Honor Council proposed and the University Senate approved an Honor Pledge, which reads:
I pledge on my honor that I have not given or received any unauthorized assistance on this assignment/examination.
Helpful Links
- Students are required to complete all major requirements at the University of Maryland. Only students with extenuating or unusual circumstances may be granted permission to enroll i courses at other institutions. Students interested in taking an acceptable course at another institution should consult the UMD Transfer Course Database, which contains accepted credits and their equivalents from various institutions. The database may also serve as a guide to understand which courses have transferred in from a student's previous institution.
- U.achieve is the University's degree audit system, which helps students and their advisors evaluate their academinc progress towards degree completion. The degree audit system is meant to be an unofficial guide, as several factors may impact an online audit.
- The Undergraduate Catalog provides information pertaining to undergraduate academic programs, including course descriptions and program requirements, and sets forth the university's academic, registration and graduation policies and regulations.
- The Academic Calendar lists important dates throughout the semester.
- The Academic Deadlines page lists important deadlines for the winter, spring, summer and fall semesters. Students should frequently consult this page tto review registration, withdrawal, and payments deadlines.
