Requesting Books

Process

  • Find the title you would like using the Library Catalog search
  • Click the title link of an item to open the "Full View of Record" page
  • On the "Location" line, find an available copy and click the "Availability" link
  • Click the blue "Reqest this item" button above the availability listings
    • This should prompt you to login to your home institution using your credentials from that school
  • Select the pickup location you would like using the drop-down menu and click the blue "Next" button
    • Please note that not all items can be requested to be sent to Shady Grove.  If you don't see Shady Grove in the drop-down, it can't be sent here
  • Confirm that all of the information on the "Hold Request Confirmation" page is correct, then click the blue "Confirm Request" button
    • You can check on the status of your request at any time by using the My Account site, and clicking "view/cancel" on the "Requests" line
  • You will receive an automated notification e-mail when the item you requested has been processed in for you at Priddy Library

Borrower Eligibility

  • USMAI students, faculty, and staff

Item Eligibility

  • Requested books from the USG/Priddy Library circulating collection
  • Requested books from some other USMAI libraries' circulating collections

Process

  • Follow the steps above to place a request
  • Once your requested item arrives at the Priddy Library, it will be set aside for you, and an e-mail will be sent automatically informing you of its arrival
    • You will also be contacted via your school e-mail by a Priddy Library staff member
      • This e-mail will include a confirmation code that you will need to provide if you wish to make use of the curbside pickup service
  • Park in one of the short-term spots in surface Parking Lot 5, next to Building III, and call the library at 301-738-6020.
    • You must provide the confirmation code included in your scheduling e-mail (referenced above), as well as the color and make of your vehicle
    • After confirmation on the call, a library employee will bring your items to your vehicle
    • All books will already be checked-out on your library account
