Why do you want to serve on the Staff Advisory Committee?
The Staff Advisory Committee encourages staff to take an active role in their work environment. It serves as a liaison between staff and administrative leadership to broach topics of import. I want to join the Staff Advisory Committee because I believe in the transparency and communication between the committee and the administrative leadership. I believe in the committee's goal to identify areas of improvement for staff which will ultimately increase morale and effectiveness. Additionally, as The Universities at Shady Grove enter a period of change as state budget cuts affect each department, I believe the Staff Advisory Committee will be key in smoothing the transitions and serving as a voice for those most affected, and I want to be part of that process.

What is one of your top priorities should you be elected to the Committee?
Following the announcement regarding budget cuts on the state level, The Universities at Shady Grove will face a series of changes. As a committee member, my top priority is to observe and understand the impacts of these budget cuts and represent the affected staff as we adapt to the upcoming changes. Part of adapting to the changes in budget includes understanding how the shifts in workload may affect morale and procedures. As a committee member, my secondary priorities include examining existing policies and procedures to ensure the needs of staff are met and to evaluate current campus climate to help boost morale.

Why should your colleagues vote for you to serve on the Committee?
In my position as a scheduling specialist with facilities management, I am well integrated in the USG community. I have connections in nearly every department and am excited to continue getting to know the staff. Part of my job is to understand the needs of the faculty and to organize and arrange the schedule to meet the needs and wishes of as many individuals as possible. As a committee member, I would bring that specialty and, therefore, strengthen the committee's ability to collect, organize, and act on the requests and needs of the staff.
