On October 19, New inside view 12016, USG broke ground on its Biomedical Sciences and Engineering Education (BSE) Facility. Guests included Lieutenant Governor Boyd Rutherford, Maryland State Senator Nancy King, Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett, University System of Maryland Chancellor Robert Caret as well as local business leaders, partner universities, students and the community.

The 220,000-square-foot academic building, designed by the architectural firm Cooper Carry and its partner Lake/Flato represents a major milestone for USG. The campus expansion also includes a green parking garage and new entrance for the campus, both recently completed thanks to generous funding by Montgomery County.

The Biomedical Sciences and Engineering Education Facility is scheduled to open in 2019. Learn more as we break new ground and power tomorrow's workforce.

The Universities at Shady Grove announced that the nationally renowned architectural firm Cooper Carry and its partner Lake/Flato have been selected to manage the design and construction administration of the Biomedical Sciences and Engineering Education (BSE) Facility. The construction management contract has been awarded to the Gilbane Building Company. Three University System of Maryland partner research universities (University of Maryland, Baltimore, University of Maryland, College Park and UMBC) have collaborated to bring advanced degree opportunities in healthcare, biosciences, engineering and computational sciences.

New inside view 2The BSE Facility will provide state-of-the-art teaching laboratories, active learning classrooms, clinical training facilities, academic offices, and an expanded level of student services necessary to support program and enrollment growth.

Co-designed laboratory space and equipment will be shared and serve the need of multiple academic programs. Innovation and product design labs will provide flexible space for inter-disciplinary student research projects.
