Industry Roundtable

BRidging The Life ScienceS Workforce Gap

Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 4:00-5:30pm on Zoom (WATCH THE REPLAY BELOW)

The life sciences industry has been on a strong growth track in recent years, and the COVID-19 pandemic has only heightened the need for increased research, diagnostic and manufacturing workers in the region. But while people to fill these jobs are in high demand, the right skills are in short supply.

This event, hosted by the Maryland Tech Council and the Universities at Shady Grove, featured a panel of industry experts for a thought-provoking conversation on how to bridge this gap. Moderated by Martin Rosendale, CEO of the Maryland Tech Council, this industry roundtable event included:

  • A look at recruitment challenges being experienced in the life sciences industry
  • An overview of regional and state workforce development initiatives currently underway
  • Resources to meet the workforce needs of the industry
  • Insight into creating a talent pipeline and filling the skills gap

The event was open to industry professionals, economic and workforce entities, community leaders, students and university faculty and staff.
