TTP Communication Application Requirements for MC and FCC students

 

The University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) offers a B.A. in Communication degree at The Universities at Shady Grove (USG). The program offers an exciting curriculum that prepares students for academic and professional careers in business, government, health, education, social and human services, and related fields.

The Terp Transfer Partnership (TTP) program is a Transfer Access Program (TAP) designed to benefit Montgomery College and Frederick Community College students who plan to transfer to the UMD Communication program at USG.

The TTP program for Communication will help you prepare for all aspects of the transfer process including:

  • Priority advising with UMD program representatives
    • Pre-transfer advising to ensure that you are taking the correct classes at MC or FCC
    • Early academic advising on UMD program requirements
  • Early access to USG student services, supporting TTP students in the following Transfer Readiness Zones:
    • Academic Readiness
      • Oral & Written Communication
      • Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
      • Digital Technology
    • Career Readiness
      • Career Development
      • Teamwork & Collaboration
      • Professionalism & Work Ethic
    • Personal Success

  • Two-degree credentials – Associate's Degree and Bachelor’s Degree 

What are the requirements for TTP?

TTP application and completion requirements are unique based on your current institution (MC or FCC).  Please click on your institution below to learn about these requirements

Montgomery College

What are the requirements to be considered for TTP?

Students wishing to be considered for the TTP program for Communication should be able to answer yes to the following questions:

  • Am I attending MC in the spring 2022 semester?
  • Have I completed (with a "C" or better) or am I registered to take COMM 108: Introduction to Human Communication?

If you answered yes to both of the questions listed under your current school, please utilize these TTP application directions to complete the TTP application!

Apply by June 15 to start TTP in the fall  ||  Apply by November 15 to start TTP in the spring

What are the requirements to successfully complete TTP?

In order to successfully complete the Terp Transfer Partnership program for Communication, TTP participants must meet the following requirements. All requirements must be fulfilled while attending Montgomery College.

  • Academic Requirements
    • Earn an Associate’s Degree from MC (A.A. Communication Studies recommended)
    • Graduate from MC with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA from all previous institutions
    • Earn a C- or better in the following MC courses:
      • COMM 108: Introduction to Human Communication   OR   COMM 112: Business and Professional Speech Communication
      • COMM 250: Introduction to Communication Inquiry and Theory
      • MATH 117: Elements of Statistics (highly recommended)   OR    BSAD 210: Statistics for Business and Economics
      • ENGL 102: Techniques of Reading and Writing II
      • LING 200: Introduction to Linguistics
  • Additional Requirements
    • Participate in the Terp Transfer Partnership Welcome Activities
      • Transfer Access Welcome Module
      • Transfer Access Welcome Celebration (virtual during the pandemic, at USG once in-person events resume)
    • Meet with the UMD Communication Program Director or representative at least once per semester
    • Attend a minimum of three events/activities (one in each Transfer Readiness Zone) before you transfer
      • Academic Readiness (at least one event/activity) 
      • Career Readiness (at least one event/activity) 
      • Personal Success (at least one event/activity) 
    • Submit the UMD Coalition application for the Communication program at USG.
Frederick Community College

      • MATH 120: Elementary Statistics.  OR   MATH 125: Business Statistics 
      • ENGL 101: English Composition
  • Additional Requirements
    • Participate in the Terp Transfer Partnership Welcome Activities
      • Transfer Access Welcome Module
