The University of Baltimore offers the M.A. in Publications Design at the Universities at Shady Grove in a convenient, weekend format.
This master's program combines conceptual thinking, professional writing and graphic design while exploring both traditional and digital media.
The curriculum is based on direct research and consultation with professionals throughout the corporate and nonprofit sectors to best prepare students for careers spanning the communications field. Students come to the program from a wide variety of educational and professional backgrounds, and while many already have experience as writers or designers, it is not a requirement.
The program's faculty includes innovative, respected professionals in communications, writing and publishing from throughout the mid-Atlantic region.
WHY STUDY PUBLICATIONS DESIGN?

Being adept at communicating both visually and verbally can make you an asset in the corporate world, while electing courses in digital media can prepare you for work in the rapidly growing field of digital communication.
HOW IS THE PROGRAM ORGANIZED?
The streamlined course requirements for this 36-credit program include a 6-credit, team-taught foundation class and courses that examine conceptual creativity, advanced writing, typography, Web development and various other aspects of communication that inform writing and design.
Students develop portfolios through a specifically dedicated course, work in teams to solve major real-world design problems and can pursue professional internships in every area of the communications field at businesses and organizations throughout the Baltimore-Washington area.
