Q:        Does the program differ from the one offered at the College Park campus?
A:         The UMD, Biological Sciences Program at USG follows the same curricula and teaching standards as those followed at main campus (College Park).

Q:        Will my diploma say I graduated from USG?
A:         No, upon completion of this program, students are awarded a diploma that states they earned their Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland  College Park. 

Q:        Will I attend a graduation ceremony at USG?
A:        All University of Maryland students attend the same commencement ceremony held at the College Park campus.  USG does hold a fantastic Graduation Celebration event each spring; however, this event is for all undergraduate students graduating from each of the institutional programs at USG (e.g. College Park, Towson, UMBC, etc.).

Q:        Do I need to take any Chemistry classes before applying to your program?
A:         Yes, you will need to have completed and passed with a C- or better in each of the following Chemistry courses (course codes listed are UMCP)

            CHEM131 / CHEM132         General Chemistry I

            CHEM271 / CHEM272       General Chemistry II

            CHEM231 /CHEM232       Organic Chemistry I

            CHEM241 / CHEM242      Organic Chemistry II

Q:        How many credits can I transfer into the program?
A:        You can transfer up to 60 credit hours from a two-year school/institution.  Additionally, we accept all applicable Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) credits.  

Q:        Does this program prepare me for Medical School, Dental School or Pharmacy School?
A:        With its focus on Physiology and Neurobiology, the Biological Sciences Program is ideally suited to provide a solid foundation for students planning to pursue graduate education in a variety of professional health fields, including but not limited to Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Physician's Assistant.

Q:        When are admissions applications due?

A:         Admissions applications must be submitted by or before June 1st, 2019 for best consideration.  This program currently accepts Fall admissions applications only.  Start your application process today!
