I started my educational journey at Montgomery College (MC) majoring in Computer Science, but I didn’t feel as though it was the right calling for me. While at MC I took various classes and taught martial arts and it helped me realize how much I loved helping people live a healthier lifestyle. I discovered the Exercise Science program at Salisbury University (SU). I was fortunate to know someone who knew all about the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) and convinced me to come to an open house.

While I was at the open house, I realized that there was not just Salisbury University at USG, but eight other universities all located on this one campus. I was fortunate that Salisbury University did offer Exercise Science as one of their programs at USG. I worked with my counselor to figure out the transfer process and changed my major to Health and Fitness. After I graduated from MC I applied to SU and selected USG as my main campus. This has turned into one of the smartest financial decisions I have ever made. By attending my classes at USG, I didn’t need to move away or find a new job. All the while I have more chances to obtain scholarships and to interact with my professors on a personal level within a small classroom.

There are many opportunities for students to participate in the various clubs and organizations at USG. To get more involved and help spread the word about USG I became a student ambassador. I am also able to improve my leadership and public speaking skills. I am an active Kendall Scholar, which provides me with community volunteering opportunities.

After I graduate I aim to get a job within my field to practice what I have learned. I also plan to go to graduate school to pursue a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

This has turned into one of the smartest financial decisions I have ever made. By attending my classes at USG, I didn’t need to move away or find a new job. All the while I have more chances to obtain scholarships and to interact with my professors on a personal level within a small classroom.
