Safety signage is designed to fulfill regulatory requirements and alert individuals, visitors, and emergency response personnel to specific hazards in individual spaces. Additionally, EHS posts campus-specific guidance to support safety within the educational environment.
Hazard Warning Signs
At entrances to laboratory and clinic rooms, signage is posted listing space restrictions, cautionary pictorials, and contact information in the case of an emergency or incident.
- Area chemical, biological, and physical hazards
- Regulatory information like biosafety level, OSHA required hazard classes
- Space restrictions like no food or drink, personal protective equipment, hand washing
The system for generating these signs has recently moved to SciShield, and EHS is undergoing efforts to get new sign holders and signs posted across campus. One benefit of the change is that EHS will be able to generate signs and print them here at the Copy Center; therefore, they will be easier to update.
Emergency Procedures Poster
Within labs and clinics, an Emergency Procedures Poster is posted, which lists emergency contact information and individual procedures for responding to various types of emergencies and incidences.
