Hello my name is Omeed Mahmoudyeh. I learned about the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) when I was deciding on where to complete my undergraduate degree. I realized the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC formally UMUC) offered the convenience of taking select courses offered by my program on the USG campus. I have taken both online and hybrid courses and currently have a 3.9 GPA. My academic goal is to graduate with honors from UMGC and I am a member of the Alpha Sigma Lamda Honor Society. I have recently joined the Upsilon Pi Epsilon International Honor Society for computing and information disciplines. I am currently completing my degree in Information Systems with a track in project management. I will be receiving a minor in Business Administration upon graduation as well.

This year I was elected to represent my university as a member of the USG Student Council. As an institution representative and as an advocate for the UMGC student body, I voice their opinions and share their concerns. Thereby assisting my fellow council members in planning and facilitating improvements with regards to enhancing the USG student experience. As a member of the student council I have learned how to effectively communicate with others and important leadership skills.

My career goal is to help organizations accomplish their business goals and objectives by analyzing their finances and risk assessments, and provide them with effective IT solutions and project management methodologies. Additionally, I plan to further my education and obtain a graduate degree to hopefully one day teach courses in the fields of Information Systems, Technology, and Business Finance.
