My name is Juliette Khoury and I am a Business Management major at the University of Maryland, College Park’s (UMCP) Robert H. Smith School of Business, at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) campus. I first heard about USG through my older sister, who was in a program at USG while I was still pursuing my associate’s in business from Montgomery College (MC).

I was intrigued by the thought of getting the same education offered on UMCP’s main campus, but being able to do so on a much smaller campus, where I could be part of a more tight-knit community. Soon after learning more about the programs offered at USG, I knew this was where I wanted to be when it came time to transfer.

Attending business school to pursue my bachelor’s degree had been in my plans for a while, and I was already on my way to earning my associate’s from MC. I have always been attracted to the field of business because of the wide range of career opportunities I could pursue, and the ability to work almost anywhere. During  my time in college, I wanted an experience that enabled me to get to know my classmates and interact one-on-one with my professors. This is why enrolling in the Smith School of Business, offered by UMCP at USG, seemed like the perfect fit for me.

Currently, I am on the Dean's Student Advisory Council and I am Co-President of the Business Management Association. I also serve as a teaching assistant for multiple professors and have worked on campus for USG’s Center of Student Engagement and Financial Resources. I love being involved on campus and getting to interact with other motivated and hardworking students at USG. These opportunities have also allowed me to develop numerous valuable skills in leadership, team-building, and communication. I highly recommend that all students take advantage of the many resources and services provided by USG, which not only help students succeed while in school, but also post-graduation.

My anticipated graduation date is May 2023. While I will be sad to leave USG, I am very excited for the next chapter of my life. Upon graduation, I hope to work for a well-regarded company with an enriching environment that strives to promote diversity and inclusion. I aim to pursue a career where I know I am making a positive impact on the world. I am very excited to see what the future holds and where life will take me.

I love being involved on campus and getting to interact with other motivated and hardworking students at USG. These opportunities have also allowed me to develop numerous valuable skills in leadership, team-building, and communication.
