USG's fall 2020 operations have been modified to protect the health and safety of our campus community. All services are being provided remotely. Access to campus buildings is restricted, as most classes are online and on-campus instruction is limited to a small number of lab courses.
Students, faculty and staff who will be on campus this semester for classes or essential operations are required to certify with their home campuses that they have completed a Covid-19 test within 14 days of their return to campus and that the test was negative. Anyone who is on campus is required to wear a mask at all times, consistent with CDC and Montgomery County guidelines. Visit the USG Onward web page for additional details.
Important information for the Fall 2020 semester
There will not be an active parking program during the Fall Semester. We will not be issuing students, faculty and staff parking permits nor will there be parking enforcement for cars parked in parking spaces except for ADA accessible spaces and fire lines. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to park in Traville Gateway Garage or in BSE parking Lot 2. We are providing Eduroam Wi-Fi access on the first level of the Shady Grove Garage. If you need to park your car in that garage, please park in spaces above the first level and leave the first level spaces for Wi-Fi users.
The chartered shuttle that runs between UMCP and the USG campus will not be operating during the fall semester. If you require transportation to the University of Maryland, College Park, please see the Shuttle-UM 141 Gaithersburg Park & Ride bus.
The USG administration works with the Campus Transportation Advisory Committee (CTAC) to establish the USG Transportation and Parking Services Parking Regulations. The CTAC is made up of faculty, staff and student representatives and will continue to serve as a conduit between the USG community and the Executive Director's Office.
Visitor Parking: Levels 2 - 6 of Traville Gateway Garage, Shady Grove Garage
PLEASE NOTE: The ground floor of Traville Gateway Garage is designated as lot 4. Lot 4 requires a USG employee permit at all times.
- 24 hours, 7 days a week - $2/hr (Maximum $14/day)
A limited number of parking spaces are available in Lot 5 for 20-minute parking.
Disabled parking in Lot 4: A USG parking permit and state-issued disabled parking identification (permit, placard, license plates, etc.) must be displayed when parking in designated disabled parking spaces in Lot 4.
Disabled parking in Lot 5: State-issued disabled parking identification (permit, placard, license plates, etc.) must be displayed when parking in Lot 5. In addition, parkers must display a USG parking permit or feed the parking meter.
Disabled parking is also available on levels 2 through 6 of Traville Gateway garage near the elevators. The hourly visitor parking fees apply when parked in these spaces. Vehicles found in violation of posted restrictions for disabled parking may be ticketed and towed at the owner's risk and expense.
MOTORCYCLE & SCOOTER PARKING
Motorcycle parking is available in the visitor parking areas of Traville Gateway Garage. A USG motorcycle decal is required to park in the motorcycle parking spaces in Lot 4 at the non-meter spaces. There are meter spaces designated for motorcycles only in the lot 4 area located on the outside of Traville Gateway Garage.
SERVICE VEHICLE PARKING
Service Permits are available for the USG campus. Designated Service Vehicle spaces which can accommodate oversized vehicles are located along Gudelsky Drive. Service permits are valid in posted service spaces only. They are not valid in disabled parking spaces, fire lanes, gated areas, areas controlled by pay stations, roadways, designated tow-away zones or any other area not designated as a parking space. Service Permits cost $15 per day or $280 per month.
All USG parking lots are lighted after dark. If you'd like a Security escort to or from your car, please see the Security Guard Desk in SG III or call 301-738-6065 and an escort will be provided.
