Individuals who wish to purchase a parking permit must register online. Individuals who wish to pay for hourly parking, occasional parking or per-use parking do not need to register. Students will need a credit card to register and may choose to pay for a semester or annual permit at the time of registration or choose a payment plan option.
The USG administration works with the Campus Transportation Advisory Committee (CTAC) to establish the USG Transportation and Parking Services Parking Regulations. The CTAC is made up of faculty, staff and student representatives and will continue to serve as a conduit between the USG community and the Executive Director's Office.

All part-time faculty (tenured and tenure-track traveling from the home campus and/or adjunct faculty) will be charged the Tier 1 parking rate.
Employees renewing annual or semester parking permit: USG Employee Permit Renewal Form . Employees paying for monthly, semester or annual parking permit with cash, check or credit: visit the TAPS office to register for parking.
Employees may “Pay on Exit” rather than purchasing a parking permit for $5 per exit on a prepaid gate card providing access to Traville Gateway garage and Shady Grove Garage. This option most advantageous to campus members who come to campus only a few days per week. The $5 per exit gate card must be purchased in person at the TAPS office.
New parking registrants and those who need to make a payment in person: Lot 4 permits and TGG gate access cards will be available Monday, August 7. Current registrants that selected payroll deduction will have their current parking access extended based on the selection of the annual or semester parking. Current permits are due to expire on August 20.
Individuals that register for a Lot 4 permit must pick up their permit at the TAPS office. Current Lot 4 and TGG permit holders must keep their gate cards, they will be transferred over to their new registration. Physical permits for TGG and SGG/Lot1 will not be issued this year. Gate cards will serve as the parking credential. A special after hours permit is available upon request to TGG registrants that would like to park in Lot 4 after the posted hours.

Disabled parking in Lot 4: A USG parking permit and state-issued disabled parking identification (permit, placard, license plates, etc.) must be displayed when parking in designated disabled parking spaces in Lot 4.
Disabled parking in Lot 5: State-issued disabled parking identification (permit, placard, license plates, etc.) must be displayed when parking in Lot 5. In addition, parkers must display a USG parking permit or feed the parking meter.
Disabled parking is also available on levels 2 through 6 of Traville Gateway garage near the elevators. The hourly visitor parking fees apply when parked in these spaces. Vehicles found in violation of posted restrictions for disabled parking may be ticketed and towed at the owner's risk and expense.
SHORT TERM PARKING
A limited number of parking spaces are available in Lot 5 for 20-minute parking.
MOTORCYCLE & SCOOTER PARKING
Motorcycle and Scooter parking is available in the visitor parking areas of Traville Gateway Garage and Shady Grove Garage. A Lot 4 motorcycle decal is required to park in the motorcycle parking spaces in Lot 4.
SERVICE VEHICLE PARKING
Service Permits are available for the USG campus. Designated Service Vehicle spaces which can accommodate oversized vehicles are located along Gudelsky Drive. Service permits are valid in posted service spaces only. They are not valid in disabled parking spaces, fire lanes, gated areas, areas controlled by pay stations, roadways, designated tow-away zones or any other area not designated as a parking space. Service Permits cost $15 per day or $200 per month.
GREEN VEHICLE PROGRAM
Individuals with a parking permit and qualifying vehicle are eligible for a green vehicle discount of 20% off the cost of their permit. Vehicles must be certified EPA SmartWay Elite to qualify for the Green Vehicle Program. Green vehicle owners must visit the TAPS Office to enroll in the program. At the time of enrollment, drivers must provide a copy of the vehicle registration. The carpool and green vehicle discounts may not be applied to the same permit. This discount cannot be applied retroactively.
Individuals with a parking permit are eligible for a carpool discount of 50% off the cost of their permit. Carpoolers must visit the TAPS Office to enroll, and will be issued one permit and one gate card per carpool. At the time of enrollment, each member of the carpool will also receive a number of one-day passes for use on non-carpool days. The carpool and green vehicle discounts may not be applied to the same permit. This discount cannot be applied retroactively.
ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING
A parking space where electric vehicles can park to re-charge their batteries is located at the east end of Lot #5 and is marked with a sign. Electric vehicles may use the space for the time necessary to re-charge their batteries. Vehicles parked in this space that are not actively charging their batteries may be towed at the owner's risk and expense.
Bicycles must be parked at provided bicycle racks. Bicycles secured to any other item or left unsecured may be removed at the owner's risk and expense. Secure bicycle racks are provided at:
- Building I - south side
- Building II and Traville Gateway Garage - between the structures
- Building III southwest corner
A Capital Bikeshare station is located on Traville Gateway Drive at the southwest corner of Building III.
All USG parking lots are lighted after dark. USG does not allow overnight parking. If you'd like a Security escort to or from your car, please see the Security Guard Desk in SG III or call 301-738-6065 and an escort will be provided.
