Welcome to USGHarmony, USG's new online, asynchronous individual diversity development program! Students enrolled in USGHarmony will use theoretical aspects of diversity to foster practical skills to promote inclusivity.

How Does USGHarmony Work?
Interested students will complete a short application and then will be sent a link to complete the program. This course contains five modules, each focused on a different level of Chavez, et al.’s Framework of Individual Diversity Development (2003). This sequence follows the framework in order of developmental complexity, from “Unawareness/Lack of Exposure To the Other” to “Integration/Validation”. Each module incorporates the two terminal objectives, which can be thought of as “learning” and “doing”. Each module contains different elements, such as videos, articles, links to learning resources, and self-evaluations. This will allow for a variety of learning styles as well as keep the course interesting and engaging. There is no fee or textbook for this course.

Why Should I Complete It?

This course will challenge you to step outside of your comfort zone, explore a variety of identities, and be exposed to DEI-related topics that may or may not be new to you. It will also enable students to support USG’s diversity goals, especially but not limited to their pledge to “promote a culture of acceptance and belonging where members of the community are empowered to express their whole self” (Diversity matters, n.d., para. 2). Completers will earn a gift, certificate of completion, LinkedIn recommendation, and more! In addition, completion of this program will enable you to stand out among your peers when applying for jobs, internships, or other roles.

How Long Do I Have to Complete the Program?

Until the day you graduate from a program at USG. Completers will be honored each year at the USG Student Engagement Awards in late April or early May.
