About the Honorees, Past Honorees & the MCBHOF

The Honorees

LaTisha Gasaway-Paul, Founder, Minds in Motion Childcare

LaTisha Gasaway-Paul is a distinguished entrepreneur, community leader, philanthropist, and activist with deep roots in the Scotland Community of Potomac, Maryland. Her impactful journey began in 2008 when she co-founded Minds In Motion Childcare in Potomac. Under her leadership, the business expanded to include two additional childcare centers across Maryland, highlighting her commitment to providing high-quality early childhood education.

LaTisha’s dedication to community development is evident in her advocacy for the Scotland Community. She works tirelessly to raise awareness, secure resources, and empower residents to reclaim their history. Her efforts have earned her recognition from Marc Elrich and the Montgomery County Council as a distinguished community leader. She has also been honored by Congressman Jamie Raskin as a local hero, featured in his video series that highlights impactful community members.

In 2023, LaTisha became president of the Juneteenth Scotland Foundation Inc., a non-profit dedicated to supporting and celebrating Montgomery County’s historic Black communities. Under her leadership, the foundation built the largest Juneteenth Festival for the second year in a row. The festival celebrates Montgomery County’s historic Black communities while commemorating Juneteenth and Emancipation Day. Proceeds of the Festival support local organizations that empower and uplift the Black community and its youth.

Year after year, LaTisha finds ways to give back. She organizes annual back-to-school shoe drives, providing new shoes to children for the school year. She also leads a Black History Month celebration in partnership with Montgomery County Public Schools, promoting education and awareness of Black history and culture. Additionally, LaTisha hosts quarterly seminars on critical topics such as financial literacy, college application assistance, and homebuyer education, all aimed at building wealth and improving community members’ lives.

While LaTisha is a powerful entrepreneur and businesswoman, her greatest accomplishment is her selfless dedication to others. She consistently prioritizes the needs of the community over her own, embodying the spirit of a true hometown hero, community advocate, and influential leader across the DMV.

About the Montgomery County Business Hall of Fame

What is the Montgomery County Business Hall of Fame?

The Montgomery County Business Hall of Fame (MCBHOF), co-founded by Grossberg Company LLP, CPAs and Monument Bank (now Sandy Spring Bank), is a celebration of individuals who have made a significant impact in the Montgomery County Business community. It is a distinct pleasure to honor four business leaders who have enriched the corporate climate of Montgomery County.

All net proceeds from the MCBHOF will benefit the scholarship programs at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG), the University System of Maryland’s regional education center that brings nearly 80 undergraduate and graduate degree programs from nine Maryland public universities
directly to Montgomery County. The same type of vision that led to the creation of USG in the fall of 2000 — to do something truly unique and extraordinary — is the type of vision our honorees all share.

Emcee and Alumni Speaker

Melissa Mollet, Anchor & Traffic Reporter, News4 Today

Melissa Mollet anchors the 4 a.m. hour of News4 Today and covers traffic throughout the morning.

A lifetime of living, commuting and telling stories around the Washington area qualifies Mollet to provide up-to-the-minute traffic and transit news to NBC4’s morning viewers.

A native of Gaithersburg and graduate of Gaithersburg High School, Mollet’s journalism career began at NBC4 where she was an intern in three different departments during college. She returned in 2010 as a reporter for News4 Today.

Mollet has earned four EMMY awards, including one for a 2013 story called “Rescuers Rescued” in which she detailed a Beltway accident involving a fire truck.

Mollet proudly created two news franchises at NBC4. Finding Families features children in foster care in need of a loving home, and Meet Your Street takes a fun look at how local roads in the Washington area were named.

In between stints at NBC4, Mollet reported and anchored the morning show for KDVR in Denver. She covered a wide range of stories — from the 10th anniversary of the Columbine High School shootings to the 2008 Democratic National Convention, to several American Idol finales in Los Angeles. While at KDVR, she won a Colorado Broadcasters Association award for “Best Breaking News Story.”

Mollet has also reported for Cable News 21 in Rockville, Newschannel 8 in Washington, and NBC25 in Hagerstown, where she was an anchor for every newscast from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. at one time or another and created the station’s consumer segment, Test it Out Tuesday.

Melissa lives in Maryland with her husband, Jake, and children Brennan, Barrett and Colette. Norm, the mohawked mini goldendoodle, serves as the family mascot.
