Internship Opportunities: Find the Right Fit for Your Organization

Engage talented students and build your talent pipeline through flexible, meaningful internship options. Whether you need a semester-long intern, a short-term project, or a collaborative student team, we’ll help you find the right fit.

Traditional Internships
Offer students hands-on, semester-long experience working directly with your team. Internships typically last 10–12 weeks, on-site or hybrid, providing valuable professional development for students and future talent for your organization.

Virtual Internships
Connect with students remotely through a structured, meaningful internship experience. Perfect for organizations seeking flexible, project-based support without space or location constraints.

Micro-Internships (Project-Based Internships)
Need help on short-term, professional projects? Micro-internships let you engage students for 10–40 hour projects that can be completed remotely or on-site — no long-term commitment, but with big impact.

Team-Based Internships
Partner with a small student team to tackle a real-world challenge or project. Students work collaboratively, with your guidance, bringing diverse perspectives and creative solutions to your organization.

Customized employment partnerships

Not all business needs can be addressed through existing internship programs or part-time hiring, so the Office of Strategic Partnerships works with employers to create customized partnership opportunities. Matching an organization's unique demands to the strengths of an academic program results in a program that is tailor-made for student and employer success. To discuss your needs, please contact Deborah Zimmer ar dzimmer@umd.edu for more information.
