University of Maryland at Shady Grove has a new Masters program starting this Fall. In collaboration with local school districts, we have created a program that responds to the greatest challenges in the schools.
M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction - Elementary/Middle School: STEM
This program has been specifically designed to accommodate and support the needs of practicing elementary and middle school teachers. The program provides opportunities for teachers to engage with the integrated content, skills, and practices of science, mathematics, engineering, and technology. Courses are grounded in theory and research and learning experiences employ pedagogical approaches that support MSDE STEM Standards of Practice, featuring inquiry, logical reasoning, and collaboration.
Successful completion of the program results in a master’s degree and the opportunity to apply for an add-on endorsement in STEM education to your current teacher certification from MSDE (this is not an initial teacher certification).
This program is offered to elementary and middle school teachers certified through the state of Maryland.
This program is now accepting applications for the next cohort, which is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2015! Deadline for applications is June 30th, 2015.
