The Universities at Shady Grove (USG), University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP), Montgomery College (MC) and the Bethesda chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA Bethesda) hosted a “speed mentoring event” for AFCEA Bethesda scholarship recipients on October 20th at USG.
Fast Look at the Future
During the event, scholarship recipients were introduced to local information technology professionals in a round-robin format to discuss their education and career goals. In each 5-minute round, students were able to seek advice about education plans, career objectives and expectations, how to evaluate employment opportunities, and how to build a career in the public sector.
“AFCEA Bethesda scholarship recipients are highly talented students that will be seeking technical positions in the local workforce over the next four years,” said Michael Priddy, President & CEO of Intervise and Vice President of Education, AFCEA Bethesda. “Students who attended this event will benefit from the advice of the mentors present while growing their potential to make valuable contributions to our local economy”.
