On September 30, 2021, the Unviersities at Shady Grove (USG) and design firm, Cooper Carry and Lake | Flato, were recognized with two awards for the design of USG's Biomedical Sciences and Engineering Building, the AIA MD Vision Award (an inaugural award) and AIA MD Jury Citation for Institutional Architecture. The AIA Maryland Excellence in Design Awards program recognizes excellence in architectural design by AIA Maryland architects worldwide and AIA member work in Maryland.
