The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) is “all in” on building partnerships between academia and industry to create game-changing connections for students.

Leaders from Rotary International District 7620 convened at the Universities at Shady Grove on the evening of Thursday, February 6 for a networking event that brought members of the business community together with academia to discuss talent needs in their industries, and to imagine ways we can work together to prepare, expose and connect students from programs at USG to the workforce. Nearly 80 Rotarians attended the event. USG looks forward to engaging business leaders from across the region to join in these ongoing conversations.

Panelists Greater Silver Spring Chamber of CommerceThe next morning, Dr. Anne Khademian, USG’s Executive Director, was a panelist at the Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce’s Government Affairs committee meeting to discuss strategies for addressing the region’s talent pipeline issues.

“The Rotary and Chamber events exemplify the shared responsibility behind Maryland’s economic growth as our University System of Maryland institutions produce top-tier graduates that are prepared to solve industry challenges,” said Dr. Khademian.
