On November 12, more than 400 prospective students and guests took part in the Universities at Shady Grove’s (USG) first in-person Open House in three years, since before the pandemic. The event provided USG and its nine partner universities the opportunity to showcase the campus’s nearly 80 academic programs, as well as the various services and amenities offered at USG.

Upon check-in, prospective students and guests were encouraged to participate in campus tours led by current Student Ambassadors, information sessions hosted by select academic programs and to browse the information fair in USG’s new state-of-the-art Biomedical Sciences and Engineering (BSE) building.

During the information fair, prospective students and guests were able to meet with program representatives from all undergraduate and graduate majors offered at USG through its nine Maryland university partners to learn about admission requirements, the ability to transfer credits from Montgomery College and other institutions (for those interested in undergraduate programs, specifically), career tracks, scholarships and financial aid.

Prospective students participating in the event included those from Montgomery County Public Schools, Montgomery College, Howard Community College, Frederick Community College, Prince George’s Community College and some four-year institutions.

USG received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the attendees of the Open House. Of those who completed a post-event survey, 90% said that the event was useful for their academic planning and success. Most indicated they would now be more likely to apply to/attend a program offered at the USG campus in the future.
