The UMCP Communication program now offers three exciting new courses at USG. These courses in digital media give students a chance to hone their creative abilities in an energetic and fun environment.

COMM371 - Communication and Digital Media.

A basic introduction to communication in the digital age. Through class lectures, assignments and projects, students will learn to effectively use new media for the purpose of strategic message creation and management used in the field of communication. Students will apply the basics of visual layout skills and the principles of visual design to create messages using words and images.

 

COMM398W - Visual Communication and Web Design.

 A basic to intermediate introduction to web design. Students will begin by developing a simple personal web site using table-based layouts, and progress to a moderately complex CSS-driven layout. In addition to the basics of web creation, content, layout and design, this course will also emphasize basic computer skills and file management.

 

COMM398K Selected Topics in Communication: Digital Communication & Strategic Message Design.

 A basic to intermediate introduction to the basics of strategic message design, including layout, typography and other visual elements, and how they affect the effectiveness of messages.
