Adieu to STEW Event
Wednesday, September 30, 2020 AT 4:15PM
After 18 years at the helm, Dr. Stewart Edelstein is retiring as Executive Director of the Universities at Shady Grove (USG).
We invite you to join us in celebrating his extraordinary legacy and impact on USG and the greater community with an "Adieu to Stew" on September 30, 2020. The day will begin with a car parade through the campus, then will transition to an evening virtual event featuring members from the current and former USG Board of Advisors, USG faculty and staff, alums, and members of the community.
Please also consider a gift to the Dr. Stewart Edelstein Student Success Scholarship that has been established to continue Stew's legacy of providing educational opportunity to high-need, high-potential students at USG for many years to come. Click the button below and select the Dr. Stewart Edelstein Student Success Scholarship from the drop down menu.
“Stew Adieu” Car Parade
Join us at 4:15PM for a car parade that will form along Gudelsky Drive. Stew will be standing at a safe distance outside of the pull through/parking lot between the Clifford and Camille Kendall Academic Center and the Biomedical Sciences and Engineering Education Facility (BSE). Participants will be able to drive by to give their well wishes and say their goodbyes to Stew from their vehicles in order to maintain safe social distancing. View parade route here.
Decorate your car, make a sign, and bring a noisemaker to whoop it up for Stew! USG will have some printed signs available as you drive through the parade, or you may download and print a copy of our "Enjoy your retirement" and/or "Thank you, Stew" signs to bring with you.
Virtual Salute to Stew
Hear from those who know Stew best — those who have worked closely with him and those whose lives he has transformed through his work at USG and across Montgomery County. The live program aired on Facebook Live on September 30th at 7:30PM. Click the button below to watch the replay.
The first video below is a compilation of recordings and photos highlighting Stew's time as the Executive Director at USG. The video also features heartfelt messages and well wishes from Stew’s family, friends, and colleagues.
The second video is a compilation of well wishes from Stew's many friends. We were blown away by how many we received and wanted to share them all!
Stew’s Memory Book
Below is a digital version of the memory book that was presented to Stew during the virtual program. Thank you to Shirley Brandman, USG’s Board of Advisors Chair, and many others for contributing to this amazing keepsake.
