The USG Priddy Library has launched a new website designed to provide an improved user experience and help visitors find valuable resources with quick, simple navigation. The new site comes equipped with easy access to databases, subject-specific study guides, and innovative ways to contact the library staff. In addition to a revamped site, the library is announcing new services that you don’t want to overlook – including extended hours for student study!

Just Ask!

The new library site implements a dynamic “frequently asked questions” feature which allows you to type a question about library services into a dialogue box on the homepage and receive an answer instantly. What if the answer isn’t available? The system will prompt you to submit your question using a brief form and a response will be delivered directly to your email inbox in 24 hours or less. As an added bonus, the most frequently asked questions are featured on the left side of the homepage.

Articles and Resources at Your Service

The knowledgeable staff at the Priddy Library has developed more than fifty subject-specific websites, known as Subject Guides, which are available for you to gather information for your research and keep up-to-date in your field. You’ll find links to journal titles, useful websites, and an RSS feed of your subject in the news!

Subject Guides are available using the tab at the top of the Priddy Library homepage. Search for a specific subject or browse all guides – you’ll be happy that you did. The Library has ongoing plans to develop additional guides.

A World of Literature

Sometimes the resources you need for your research can’t be found at USG. Or at another campus library. Or at any library in the country! Use the WorldCat tab at the top of the Priddy Library homepage to explore information resources from across the globe. You can use this powerful database to locate books, articles, journals, videos and other items at any library in the world.

After Hours Student Study Hall

In addition to a new website, the Priddy Library announces Student Study Hall – a pilot program that allows students to study in the library between 10pm and 2am, Sundays through Thursdays, during the Spring 2012 semester! The program will begin Febaruary 5th and end May 24th.

The extended hours have been created in response to student demand for a convenient and safe study environment on campus after hours.  A student ID from one of the nine partner universities on USG campus is required.  The library will be staffed during Student Study Hall and a security escort is available to your car.

A Silent Study room is also now available inside the Priddy Library during all operating hours. The silent room is a pilot program that began in Fall 2011 and the library staff is currently evaluating its success. So drop into Room 1200H for some quiet time today!
