USG's Committee on Collaboration, Interprofessional  and Interdisciplinary Education Strategies (CIPES) has collaborated with the University of Maryland, College Park's R.H. Smith School of Business to launch an innovative shared course for Fall 2012, dedicated to helping students from all programs gain skills to manage a successful business.

Through the unique course-sharing program available on USG's campus, the course is open to undergraduate students enrolled in any university at USG. (R.H. Smith School students are not eligible to enroll). To register, students should contact their program director.

Entrepreneurship & New Venture Creation

  • Learn the process of entrepreneurship and the creation of a new venture
  • Develop a Business Plan and explore stages of business growth
  • Discover strategies for building and expanding business
  • Study recent trends and best practices affecting entrepreneurship

Expert Instructor: Andrew Sherman

Andrew Sherman brings 20+ years of experience teaching in the University of Maryland, College Park R.H. Smith School of Business. A lawyer with Jones Day in Washington, D.C., he focuses his practice on issues affecting business growth for companies at all stages, including developing strategies to leverage intellectual property and technology assets, as well as international corporate transactional and franchising matters.

He has served as a legal and strategic advisor to dozens of Fortune 500 companies and hundreds of emerging growth companies and authored more than 17 books on business strategy.
