The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) was proud to host the annual Montgomery County Business Hall of Fame (MCBHOF) induction ceremony on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. This year’s luncheon celebrated four individuals who have made a positive impact on the Montgomery County business community, including: Jay Sunny Bajaj, Chairman, CEO and Founder, Digital Management, LLC; Marilyn Balcombe, President and CEO, Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce; Gordon R. Barnaby, President and CEO, BarnAllen Technologies, Inc; and Chef Ype Von Hengst, Co-Founder and Executive Chef, Silver Diner and Silver New American Brasserie.

The event raised nearly $200,000 that will benefit the scholarship programs at USG. Since its inception, the MCBHOF has supported hundreds of students and to date, has raised approximately $1.5 million for the USG Scholarship Fund through this annual event and donations.

To hear just how much of an impact these scholarships have on students, the event featured remarks by Sirelmy “Sisi” Santos, an MBA student at the University of Maryland, College Park’s Robert H. Smith School of Business at USG. She spoke powerfully about the importance of education and scholarship support in her life.
