The Universities at Shady Grove is celebrating Black History Month with exciting events throughout the month of February. The Office of Student Services (OSS) is highlighting Rosa Parks, whose incredible contributions to equality and civil rights teach us all the value of determination and bravery in the face of adversity. There are quotes, trivia and photos in all three buildings on campus to commemorate her achievements. In addition to honoring Rosa Parks, OSS has planned several activities in observance of Black History Month.

Jazz in the Café
Monday, February 3 – Friday, February 7, 2014
Grab a bite in the Green Grove Café and enjoy some relaxing jazz and motown music all throughout the week.

Coupons for the Corner
Thursday, February 13, 11:30am
Staff from the Office of Student Services will be handing out coupons for $2 off any purchase of $5 or more, redeemable from 12-2pm on February 20th. Get yours before they run out!

Free Concert in the Corner Bistro
Thursday, February 20th, 12:30pm – 1:00pm
The key event for Black History Month at USG is a free concert in the Corner Bistro in Building III, featuring USG’s very own Dr. Evelyn Lyles as the lead vocalist.
