The Universities at Shady Grove is hosting its first annual Summer Bridge Program for Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) rising seniors participating in the Achieving Collegiate Excellence & Success (ACES) program. The Summer Bridge Program, themed “Why Not You,” will take place June 19th –June 23rd on the USG campus and focus on Career Preparation and Exploration. Over 250 scholars from all ten of the MCPS ACES high schools will have the opportunity to actively participate in career simulations based on their interests and explore a plethora of careers though a Career Expo. Students will also take part in interactive activities that will help develop their leadership, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.

The ACES program is completing a successful first year. ACES staff members and scholars have been busy submitting college and scholarship applications during the spring. Plans are being made by the graduating ACES scholars for next year and a large percentage of them will start attending MC in the Fall semester. Next year, ACES will include 458 seniors and 556 juniors for a total of 1014 ACES scholars for the 2014-15 academic year.
