The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) Committee on Collaboration, Interprofessional and Interdisciplinary Education Strategies (CIPES) hosted USG’s fourth annual Biomedical Sciences Day on November 15, 2012, focusing on the evolving topic of pain management and treatment. The event, titled "It Takes a Village to Treat Pain", featured an expert panel discussion and included a poster session highlighting original student research.

Twenty-one research posters were presented by students at USG in the University of Maryland School of Nursing, University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Psychology program, and the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) Biological Sciences program. Three winners were selected for outstanding research and presentation:
