Fourteen university of Maryland Eastern Shore Hotel and Restaurant Management students at USG were inducted into the Eta Sigma Delta international hospitality management honor society on May 3rd in a ceremony held on the USG campus.

UMES Hotel and Restaurant Management Dean, Dr. Ernest Boger, a longstanding member of Eta Sigma Delta, traveled from UMES’ main campus in Princess Anne, Maryland to serve as the inductor.

In the company of teachers, family members, and classmates, the students accepted their responsibility to uphold Eta Sigma Delta’s Five Points of Honor: excellence, leadership, creativity, service, and ethics in their work and their careers.

Lourdes Diaz, Vice President of Diversity Relations at Sodexo, Inc., a global provider of food and facilities management, headquartered in Montgomery County, served as a guest speaker. Also a member of Eta Sigma Delta, Diaz offered examples of how the society’s five points of honor have helped guide her career in the industry.
