Bookeye Scanning Tips

  • The KIC scanner for use with course reserve scanning is operable entirely via the touchscreen to the right of the main scanner
  • The output will default to a searchable PDF with certain quality and color options
    • You can modify these using the options on the right side of the touchscreen
  • Set your book as close to the center of the scanning pad as possible if you want to scan 2 pages in a single pass
  • For thick books that don't lie flat, the bookrest can be converted into a V-shaped cradle mode using collapsible legs under the outside portions of each plate
  • You can output your file as either an e-mail attachment or direct to a USB stick you insert into the port next to the touchscreen
  • Remember to send or download your file before you end your session!
  • Due to file size limitations, each document can have a maximum of 15 scans
    • To scan more, end your session and start a new one
    • Each pass counts as 1 scan, so if you scan 2 pages in a single pass you can usually get 30 in a single file
    • Once on your own device, Adobe Acrobat allows you to combine multiple PDFs into one
  • If sending the output as an e-mail attachment, the system may seem to freeze, but it will generally complete after a delay
