Bookeye Scanning Tips
- For a usage tutorial with both videos and images, please visit our KIC BookScanner Help Guide
- The KIC scanner by the Reserves shelves is operable entirely via touchscreen
- The file type of any scan defaults to a searchable PDF with certain quality and color options
- You can change the file type, quality, and coloration of the file using the options on the right side of the touchscreen
- Set your book as close to the center of the scanning pad as possible
- For thick books that don't lie flat, the bookrest can be converted into a V-shaped cradle using legs under the outside portions of each plate
- You can send your file as an e-mail attachment to yourself, or download directly to your own USB storage
- You can even have the scanner upload your document to cloud storage and access it via QR Code direct from the machine!
- Remember to send or download your file before you end your session!
- Due to attachment size limitations, larger files may be broken into multiple sections, which may lead to incorrect ordering of pages
- To avoid this, you can break them into smaller files yourself by limiting the number of pages scanned per session
- To scan more, end your session and start a new one
- Adobe Acrobat allows you to combine multiple PDFs into one, once you've downloaded them onto your own computer
- If attempting to send a large file as an e-mail attachment, the system may seem to freeze but will generally complete after a modest delay
