Andrea Milo

Andrea Milo, Director, Center for Student Engagement and Financial Resources, USG

Andrea has been employed at the Universities at Shady Grove for over three years. She leads the talented Center for Student Engagement and Financial Resources Team who work together to support the development of leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. A defining characteristic of Andrea is the time she dedicates to getting to know her students and encouraging them to engage in new challenges and opportunities that will contribute to their future success. 

 

Program Director of the Year Award

Ruth Lee

Ruth Lee O'Rourke, Program Director, Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Maryland Eastern Shore

Ruth has been the program director for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), Hospitality and Tourism Management program at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) since 2012. Prior to that, from 2006 to 2012 she served as an adjunct professor for UMES at USG. Ruth is recognized for her passion to support her students and to create an atmosphere that helps them achieve educational and career goals. 

 

Excellence in Teaching Award

Melissa Blair

Melissa Blair, History, University of Maryland Baltimore County

Dr. Blair joined the History program at University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) at USG four years ago and launched a new minor in public history, an exciting field that applies history to real-world issues. She has facilitated multiple student-led projects that engage the public, focusing on a partnership with a 150-year old African American historic site near the USG campus. The work of making history real and relevant for students and local communities is what she hopes to continue at USG in the coming years.
