Tuition Assistance

  • Tuition Remission is available to regular status and Contingent 2 employees
  • Spouses/dependent child(ren) of regular faculty and staff are eligible for tuition remission
  • Retirees and spouses/dependents of retirees of the USG/UMD are eligible for tuition remission
  • A spouse is defined as "a person in a legally contracted marriage recognized by the State of Maryland to a USM employee or retiree, with the exception   of an estranged spouse who maintains a separate domicile" (Source: University of Maryland, Human Resources)
  • A "dependent child" is defined as the son/daughter, stepson/stepdaughter, or legally adopted son/daughter of a USM employee or retiree who is under the age of 26 or if the child is older and is claimed on the employee's federal income tax return for the year(s) in which tuition remission is granted" ((Source: University of Maryland, Human Resources)
  • If you, your spouse or dependents plan on taking classes at UMCP, please complete the tuition request form online by visiting www.ares.umd.edu
  • If you, your spouse or dependents plan on taking classes at another USM institution, please complete a paper tuition remission request form and submit to the USG Office of Human Resource
