Description

This position will be responsible for the maintenance of all IT infrastructure systems and will help architect our future growth in collaboration with the other systems engineers and the IT Manager to whom this position reports. Responsibilities include a wide range of projects including day to day management of the HPC cluster, planning projects for its future growth and improvement as needed, managing a ProxMox virtual server infrastructure, block and file storage arrays, and supporting virtual machines provided to users and IT staff. This position will work alongside the desktop support team and the software development team in the operation of IBBR’s IT department. As an exempt position, the Systems Administrator may be required to work off-hours or weekends on occasion as needed during roll-outs and repairs. Hiring Systems Analysts.

SALARY RANGE:   $100,000-$125,000.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology/ related field OR equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

Experience:

  • 5+ years experience with hands-on systems administration for Linux servers.
  • Demonstrated experience with Linux shell operations, scripting, and automation.

Some experience with Windows Server and Active Directory management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of networking, firewalls, and data transfer optimization
  • A demonstrated ability to research new technical projects, gather requirements, and work independently is required.
  • Ability to communicate complex topics to non-IT audiences.

PREFERENCES:

  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux family of operating systems
  • Experience with HPC clusters and related management tools, especially SLURM and Globus.
  • Experience with security and compliance best practices, to include NIST frameworks related to IT and federal data.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Predominantly operates in an office environment. Some periods of time may be spent in computer room and communications equipment spaces for installation, testing, and troubleshooting. Some work (less than 5%) requires moving and lifting of heavy (<50lbs) IT equipment.
