The Department of Communication Undergraduate Advising Offices are located in III-5119. Departmental advisor is available to assist you with questions regarding the major requirements, course schedule, CORE/GENED requirements etc. All students should meet with their advisor every semester.
To set up an advising appointment, please submit an email to us adhering to the proper guidelines listed below:
- Address your email to "rnuredin@umd.edu".
- Within the subject line please write "Academic Advising".
- Please send a courteous salutation to our programs Assistant Director, "Mrs. Raimonda Nuredini".
- To begin your email, please include your full name, your UID number, and what semester you are currently enrolled in at UMD (i.e. 1st semester, 2nd semester, 3rd semester student...etc).
- Within your email, please include your availability for an appointment that week or the upcoming week.
- When ready, please submit your email to our department and Assistant Director Raimonda Nuredini will respond to you in a timely manner regarding scheduling an advising appointment.

To be a competitive applicant to the Communication program, students should complete approximately 60 applicable credits and achieve junior standing. A grade of C or better is required in the major courses listed below. Additionally, completion of Fundamental Studies and 75 percent of lower level university general education requirements is needed. Completion of an A. A. Degree from a Maryland Community College will show completion of the UMD General Education Requirements (except for Professional Writing and any credits needed to complete the minimum 40 credit requirement).
