Hawk Line: Construction Management Technology and Hospitality and Tourism Management

 

The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) Hawk Line program is a Transfer Access Program (TAP) is designed to benefit Montgomery College students who plan to transfer to a University of Maryland, Eastern Shore (UMES) Bachelor's degree program at The Universities at Shady Grove. Students selected for Hawk Line are determined and talented with a clear vision for their future.

The Hawk Line program is offered for the following UMES degrees:  B.S. in Hospitality and Tourism Management and B.S. in Construction Management Technology.  Upon successfully completing all Hawk Line requirements, students are fully prepared to transfer to these degree programs at USG.

The Hawk Line program is completed entirely while students are completing Associate's Degrees at Montgomery College.  Students enrolled in the Hawk Line program are eligible to take early advantage of USG’s modern campus, focused student body, and convenience to home and work.  Depending on the intended major, Hawk Line students will be able to receive access to exclusive Hawk Line benefits:

  • Priority advising with UMES program representatives
    • Pre-transfer advising to ensure that you are taking the correct classes at MC
    • Early academic advising on UMES program requirements
  • Early access to USG student services, supporting Hawk Line students in the following Transfer Readiness Zones:
    • Academic Readiness
      • Oral & Written Communication
      • Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
      • Digital Technology
    • Career Readiness
      • Career Development

Who is eligible to apply for Hawk Line?

Students can enroll in the Hawk Line program any time during their enrollment at Montgomery College, except during their last semester. To be eligible to be considered for the Hawk Line, students must meet specific requirements set by their program of interest.

If I join Hawk Line, what will I do in the program?

After gaining acceptance into Hawk Line, students must fulfill these requirements while at MC in order to complete the Hawk Line program successfully:

  • Complete an Associate’s Degree from MC (refer to major-specific information for more details)
  • Complete the Hawk Line Welcome Celebration, which includes
    • Complete the virtual Welcome Module for your major (You will receive the link in your Hawk Line acceptance email)
    • Attend a live Welcome Celebration (you will receive more information as part of the Welcome Module)
  • Complete advising requirements
    • Meet with the UMES Program Director for your major at least once per semester
    • Meet with the Transfer Access Coordinator at least once per semester
  • Complete events/activities in each Transfer Readiness Zone:
    • At least one Academic Readiness activity before you transfer
    • At least one Career Readiness activity before you transfer
    • At least one Personal Success activity before you transfer
  • Complete program-specific courses and activities before transferring.  Please choose a major below for more information.
  • Submit a UMES undergraduate admissions for the UMES program at USG

*Students are still eligible for transfer admission to the UMES program if they have not successfully completed all Hawk Line requirements.

Hawk Line has a NEW application! It is easier and streamlines the entire application/decision process.

  1. Watch this video demonstration on accessing the NEW Hawk Line application.
    • Use a PERSONAL email address when setting up your application account.
      • This email will serve as your username in the application/student portal platform.
      • You cannot change your username after creating your account.
      • You will use this same login to access services before and after you transfer.
    • Communication regarding your application decision will go to your personal email/account username.
