USG is proud to partner with Manna Food Center to offer Manna Choice Market at the Grove! Launched in 2022, this program will bring a market-style distribution of food right on campus starting in August 2022. On the second Wednesday of every month, students and their families will be able to access our market to select fresh produce and other perishable and nonperishable healthy foods.
Manna Food Center is Montgomery County, Maryland's designated food assistance agency. Their mission is to end food insecurity through food distribution, education, and advocacy. Their goal is a community where all people, at all times, have access to safe, sufficient, nutritious food in order to lead fulfilling lives and contribute to making Montgomery County a place where all live in dignity.
With the additional fresh and healthy options available with the Mobile Market and the Manna Choice Market at the Grove, we feel we can continue to combat food insecurity with our students and our community.
How to Register
Participants must be Montgomery County Residents. All participants must be signed up 24 hours prior to arriving at the market. Participants should contact (301) 424-1130. Call hours are Monday through Friday, starting at 9 am. Any information shared is confidential. It is essential that Manna Food Center signs up participants before they arrive at the distribution site; we utilize the registration process in determining inventory, staffing, and other safety measures.
How to Volunteer
For our Manna market, the volunteer registration goes through their respective system. You can visit their website to sign up and volunteer. Once you fill out the form, you should be able to specify the market as the USG one or fill it in a text box. If you have any issues, feel free to email katie@mannafood.org to solve the problem or specify your registration site.
Location and Parking Information
The Manna Choice Market at the Grove will take place at room G318, the ground floor inside of USG's Biomedical Sciences and Engineering Building, located at 9631 Gudelsky Drive, Rockville, Maryland 20850. Participants can park in Lot 2 for free. Please view the USG Parking Map.
