Overview

The College of Information offers the following minors within its Information Science undergraduate program offered at the Universities at Shady Grove campus. These minors are available to all University of Maryland students from the Shady Grove and College Park campuses. All minors can be completed 100% online; some courses are offered in a hyflex format, with an in-person option available as well.

Minor in Information Risk Management, Ethics, and Privacy

The Minor in Information Risk Management, Ethics, and Privacy prepares students to evaluate major information and big data privacy and security issues that businesses and individuals encounter. Students focus on practical strategies to mitigate risks and explore the ways emerging technologies benefit in the context of risk management, ethics, and privacy.

Minor in Technology Innovation Leadership

The Minor in Technology Innovation Leadership combines creative leadership, design thinking, and understanding socio-technical challenges to prepare students to tackle large-scale problems relating to technology innovation. While using innovative thinking approaches, students learn to create new ideas and energy, and solve socio technical challenges through leadership experiences.
