Gloria Aparicio Blackwell has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2009 and was appointed chair in 2024. She is the Founding Director of the Office of Community Engagement at the University of Maryland, where she has spent 27 years building partnerships to address societal challenges. Her work focuses on education, resource access, and community collaboration. Aparicio Blackwell holds degrees in safety and fire science, industrial technology, and management. She also has received several prestigious awards, including the University of Maryland President’s Medal. She also serves on various boards and is an active volunteer.
