They provide free assistance to emergency services such as Utilities, Rent, Food, Health Care, Legal Matters, Foreclosure & Eviction Prevention, Child Care Subsidies, Financial Literacy, Immigration/Citizenship, etc. Client Service Coordinator is multi-lingual and multi-literate in English, Spanish, French and Haitian Creole. Also has access to the Language Line (Able to work with over 200 languages).

Montgomery County Home Sharing
Home Sharing with HIP is an innovative idea where homeowners offer spare rooms or Accessory Dwelling Units in their home for rent to home seekers searching for affordable, healthy and safe housing. Home sharing can reduce social isolation, create monthly income for homeowners, and offer new affordable housing options for home seekers.
HIP’s counselors and outreach staff will help advise clients through this process, from start to finish, free of charge.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
This is a free tax resource for Montgomery County residents that make less than $54,000 a year. Through VITA you can file your current taxes, last year’s taxes, and also make amends to taxes you already filed. You must make an appointment in order to be seen which you can make online or by calling them. They have offices throughout Montgomery County such as in Rockville, Gaithersburg, and Silver Spring. To obtain their services you will need an identification card, W2s, 1098T from your school, and proof of health insurance. They also offer services in other languages such as Spanish and French.

This a service provided by the IRS through which you can file your federal taxes using an easy to follow software or printable forms for free. In order to qualify to file
free federal taxes your income must be below $64,000. If your income is above this limit you have the option to file using their free printable forms. You must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States. You can also access this resource in various languages such as Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Russian, and Vietnamese.

Money Management International/Consumer Credit Counseling Information
A non-profit community service that provides budget and debt counseling and education workshops at no cost. For example, they provide budget counseling, financial education, credit reports, and debt payment plans. A Debt Repayment Plan is available to help clients repay creditors, for which there is a monthly fee when applicable. Counseling in Spanish is available.

RecAssist is provided by Montgomery County Recreation to make financial assistance available to County residents who receive public assistance. The RecAssist Fund subsidizes Recreation activity and membership fees so that eligible residents can pay reduced fees for these Recreation services in Montgomery County.
