What is reachHIRE?
The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) annually hosts the Achieving Collegiate Excellence and Success (ACES) Summer Bridge Program, reachHIRE, during June. Rising senior ACES scholars attend the program which is a coordinated summer series offered in conjunction with Montgomery College and Montgomery County Public Schools for ACES students.
The theme is reachHIRE, and focuses on "leveling up" in your academic preparation and career exploration. Throughout the week, students participate in activities that develop leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills essential for success in today’s workforce. After completing different activities students will receive a bracelet linked to one of the eight NACE Competencies teaching critical thinking, teamwork, and other professional skills needed in the workforce. Students have the opportunity to participate in a Professional Pathway Expo, which features a myriad of academic and career options from local businesses and organizations in Montgomery County, interactive professional skill-based workshops, and professional simulations where the students participate in hands-on activities reflecting the various professions of the County.
