CAMPUS Update on COVID-19
FALL 2020 ON THE USG CAMPUS
As we plan for a safe return to campus, we are writing to share our plans that will assist us during our transition from virtual operations to limited operations on campus. While the vast majority of course offerings will remain virtual throughout the fall semester, we are planning to have some instructional courses on campus. We are also planning to provide limited non-instructional support services on campus for students, faculty and staff as listed below.
To reduce the risk of infection while on campus, it is our shared responsibility to keep all members of our community safe by ensuring you have had a negative test result, completing daily monitoring and screening, wearing a face mask, practicing physical distancing and hand-washing, sanitizing and disinfecting.
We encourage you to visit our USG Onward webpage for additional campus updates.
COVID-19 Testing/Daily Screening
Most students, faculty and staff will continue to take courses and work virtually – therefore will not need to have a COVID-19 test done.
All students, faculty and staff returning to campus and planning to be on campus for more than 15 minutes are required to have a negative COVID-19 test within 14 days of returning.
All students, faculty and staff returning to campus are required to complete daily screening and monitoring and should not return to campus if you are experiencing any symptoms.
Campus Pledge and Training
To ensure that all students, faculty and staff returning to campus are aware of the necessary health and safety protocols everyone is required to complete an online pledge and training before returning to campus.
Only authorized individuals taking on campus classes, attending a scheduled appointment, or identified essential personnel will be allowed on campus. All students, faculty, staff and authorized visitors must check in with USG Security upon entry. We are considering using class rosters to check in students and faculty at the security desks. All students, faculty and staff should have their USG ID at all times.
If you are not authorized to be on campus and need to pick up or drop off materials, please contact the USG Security staff at (301) 738-6065 for assistance. USG Security staff will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with officers on duty at all times.
USG IDs with a fall 2020 validation sticker will be required for those regularly on campus starting August 31, 2020. Anyone who is enrolled in or supporting an on-site course or service will receive an email message with detailed instructions on obtaining a USG ID and/or fall 2020 validation sticker. The process will include form and photo submission, and notification of how to pick up the ID when it is ready. Students, faculty and staff members who are not scheduled to have a regular on-site presence can obtain their USG ID number from the USG Logon ID Self-Service portal. Any faculty or staff members who are is teaching or supporting an on-site course or service and have not received an email with instructions should consult their program director or administrator. Any students, faculty and staff coming on-site for a brief period (i.e. pick up purposes) should carry an appointment confirmation and valid government-issued photo ID.
