The Program Coordinator will collaborate with University Startups to deliver programs within the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) that are designed to build communities valuing entrepreneurship and transformative leadership, and to support the creation of opportunities for entrepreneurs to shape their ideas into a reality. The Program Coordinator will coordinate the organization of a variety of resources for students and local entrepreneurs, as well as for emerging startups in Montgomery County. Resource coordination will include, identifying invitees and coordinating visits from experienced professionals to the lab in order to understand and implement entrepreneurial practices, coordinating the teaching of classes and labs to give students real-world experience starting a business; overseeing student challenges and competitions, and establishing student mentor programs.

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.

Experience Required 

  • Three (3) years full-time experience managing projects, including organizing events and interacting with a variety of constituents. Projects managed should include public relations components.


  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, resourcefulness, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to evaluate and implement appropriate solutions for challenges as they arise.
  • Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to continuously improve the quality of services and processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in support of students in the context of the department and university missions and goals.
  • Skill in relevant PC applications, including Microsoft Office products, Box and other cloud storage applications, Google suite, etc.


  • Master’s degree
  • Some experience working with or for new business startups
  • Experience working with students


  • Professional, office working environment. Limited physical activity includes transporting informational materials to and from various outreach events.
