Bee Line Application Requirements (Simulation And Game Design): Attending MC in the fall or spring, completed (with a "C" or better) or registered for TECH 190 or TECH 290

The University of Baltimore (UB) B.S. in Simulation and Game Design program is offered at The Universities at Shady Grove (USG).  In this program, you will study basic game concepts and design, the fundamentals of computer programming, 3-D modeling and animation, usability design, the application of simulation to education and other nonentertainment fields and the design of multiplayer games. Through dual capstone seminars, you'll work closely with professionals to test and build games and simulations, and you'll graduate with a portfolio of projects to showcase your skills.

The Bee Line program is a Transfer Access Program (TAP) designed to benefit Montgomery College students who plan to transfer to the UB Simulation and Game Design program offered at USG.

The Bee Line program for Simulation and Game Design will help you prepare for all aspects of the transfer process including:

What are the requirements to be considered for Bee Line?

Students wishing to be considered for the Bee Line program for Simulation and Game Design should be able to answer yes to the following questions:

  • Will I still be attending MC next semester (fall or spring)? 
  • Have I completed (with a "C" or better) or registered for at least one of the following classes?
    • TECH 190: Introduction to Game and Simulation Development 
    • TECH 290: Building Game Worlds: Level Design, Mods, and Quality Assurance

If you answered yes to both questions above, complete the Bee Line application today!

Apply by June 15 to start Bee Line in the fall  ||  Apply by November 15 to start Bee Line in the spring

What are the requirements to successfully complete Bee Line?

In order to successfully complete the Bee Line program for Simulation and Game Design, participants must meet the following requirements.   All requirements must be fulfilled while attending Montgomery College.

  • Academic Requirements
    • Earn an Associate’s Degree from MC (A.A. in Computer Gaming & Simulation or General Studies recommended)
    • Graduate from MC with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA from all previous institutions
    • Earn a C- or better in the following course
      • ENGL102: Techniques of Reading, Writing, and Research OR
        ENGL 103: Techniques of Reading, Writing, and Research in the Work Place
      • TECH 190: Intro to Game and Simulation Development OR
        TECH 290: Building Game Worlds: Level Design, Mods, and Quality Assurance
      • TECH 272: Professional Website Development
      • GDES 120: Introduction to Digital Arts OR
        GDES 140: Introduction to Animation
      • GDES 240: Animation 2: 3-D Modeling
      • CMSC 140: Introduction to Programming     OR
        CMSC 214: Advanced Java Programming     OR
        CMSC 226: Introduction to Object-Oriented Programming with C++     OR
        TECH 225: Flash ActionScript for Web Publishing and Gaming     OR         
        TECH 276: JavaScript Fundamentals
  • Additional Requirements
    • Attend the Bee Line Welcome Celebration at USG
    • Meet with the UB Program Director at least once per semester 
    • Meet with the USG Transfer Access Coordinator at least once per semester 
    • Attend a USG Center for Academic Success (CAS) Workshop at least once per semester
    • Meet with a USG Career Coach, Peer Mentor, or attend a Career and Internship Services Center (CISC) workshop/event at least once prior to completion of Associate’s Degree
    • Attend a USG student life activity at least once prior to completion of Associate’s Degree
    • Submit UB Admissions Application for the Simulation and Game Design program at USG
